CommuteBoost – Frequently Asked Questions

What is CommuteBoost?

CommuteBoost is a smart mobility app that helps you track and improve your daily commute. It logs your commute, detects your travel modes and rewards you for making completing challenges.

How does it work?

Using your phone’s location and motion sensors, CommuteBoost logs your commute and automatically identifies your transport mode and routes. It then provides insights, carbon footprint estimates, and allows your employer to create challenges to encourage greener commuting.

Privacy & Data

 

What data is collected?

We collect anonymised GPS and motion data to detect your travel behaviour. This includes timestamps, coordinates, and sensor activity.

Is my data secure?

Yes. We use encryption and follow GDPR-compliant practices. Your data is never sold or shared without your consent.

Can I delete my data?

You can delete your trip history or your entire account anytime via More > Account Settings > Remove Account

Features & Functionality

 

Which transport modes are detected?

Walking, cycling, driving, bus, train, tram, and more. You can manually correct any misclassified trips.

Does it work offline?

Yes, trips can be recorded offline. You’ll need an internet connection to sync data and access full features.

Settings & Configuration

 

How do I access settings?

Tap the More button in the bottom right corner of the app, from here you have access to manage all of your settings.

Can I turn off tracking?

Yes. You can pause or disable location tracking in the settings, via the cog icon on the home screen or via the More menu, though this limits app functionality.

Troubleshooting

 

Why is my trip showing a longer duration that it took?

The app uses the motion of your phone to detect when you have started your journey, on occasions this may mean that the duration of your journey may show as longer than the actual travel time i.e. if you leave your house and sit in your car responding to a text or making a phone call this will form part of the duration.

Trips aren’t being recorded. What should I do?

Ensure location and motion permissions are enabled. Restart the app or reinstall if needed.

Battery is draining quickly.

If you are finding that your battery is draining quickly, you can choose to log your journeys manually in the App by disabling the always on option

Transport mode is incorrect.

If a leg of your journey has not been recorded correctly, you can manually amend this if the journey has not been automatically confirmed, if the journey has been automatically confirmed you can report an issue from the confirmed journey screen

App crashes or freezes.

Update to the latest version, clear cache, or reinstall. Contact support if issues persist.

Forgot password?

Tap “Forgot Password?” on the login screen to reset via email.

Complete eco-friendly trips, join challenges, and reach milestones to earn points. Redeem them for discounts and perks.

What are Commute Challenges?

Time-limited challenges that encourage sustainable commuting - like biking to work or reducing car usage.

Check eligibility and internet connection. If issues persist, contact support.
